BICYCLE ACTIVISM

In many places across the globe people come together to ride in groups. 
Here's but a few examples.  
Critical Mass typically happens on the last friday of the month. 
Cyclists meet spontaneously and ride the streets of their city together.
In France the same thing is called Velorution. And on top of the monthly rides the French celebrate once a year with a big ride, La Velorution Universelle, bringing cyclists from across France together in a different city every year. 
The same thing happens in Spain under the fabulous name La Criticona, Masa Critica Interplanetaria.

The World Naked Bike Ride is a most funtastic annual, peaceful protest on bicycles. 
No words can describe the joys of this event, so check out where your nearest ride takes place and go join in! 

Every year Altertour and Ecotopia Bike Tour take to the roads of Europe to visit social and environmental projects to learn, share and to create connections. Along the same lines are the Velokaravane and Le Tour Alternatiba, not happening every year but great nonetheless.

We love them all and are looking forward to visiting them one at a time!

 

Our friends at the Bristol Bike Project provide free bicycles to underprivileged groups that would not otherwise have the opportunity to own a bicycle. A wonderful place for sharing, learning and having a good time.

In Germany people like to come together around bicycles, too. The lovely folks at the Bikekitchen Augsburg and Freischrauber in Bremen open their doors to the public to help get more bikes on the road. All volunteer run, as most of these workshops. Juhuu!
